5 minutes of Camp

LI: To recount a 5 minute snapshot of one experience you had at camp

Under The Waterfall

I leaned into the kayak and I almost fell over in the water. I told myself 'you got this Leitu remember always take risks and be confident...' I put one foot in the kayak and it felt like it was going to flip but I went into the kayak and it started to wiggle!

I used the paddle to push myself off from the bank. I screamed 'Ahhhhh!' My heart was beating so fast. I told myself as I pushed my paddle right to left 'Leitu you got this woahhh!'

I accidentally put my feet off the kayak and I fell in the water as I yelled 'HELPPP!!' and I heard my heartbeat go faster. My legs and arms were shaking in the ice cold ẃater 'Help!!' I yelled. I could hear my group yelling out to me 'You got this Leitu!! ' which gave me more confidence in myself. So I got myself into the kayak and paddled away.

As I paddled to the rock then I get out and said to myself ‘Good job for being confident in yourself. I was so proud of myself for facing risks'.

Last week we went to camp at Kokako Lodge. My 5 minute snapshot shows my personal voice and I have tried hard to paint a picture with my words to describe what I was doing and how I felt.

PBS4L

LI. To explain what you have to do when there is an emergency

This PBS4L DLO it tells you what to do in a emergency like a fire. For this DLO I worked collaboratively with my friends and we helped each other write. This task was fun to do because it will be helpful for people that wouldn't know what to do in an emergency. In this slideshow I tells you about what to do when you want to go out of the class, what to do when the teacher calls the emergency roll and many more important facts that will help you and everyone else stay safe.

Giant Panda Research

LI.To use our smart searching skills to find information about the Giant panda

For this activity I did a Giant panda DLO.What we had to do on this activity was to tell 5

facts that you found and write it in you own words then find a pixabay photo of a

giant panda and put the photo link under the giant panda photo.

Here are 3 interesting facts i found with my smart searching skills:

  • Fact 1.The giant panda does not sleep or hid but will make shelter inside caves or hollows trees in very cold winter.
  • Fact 2.Did you know giant panda came on earth 2-3 million years ago?
  • Fact 3.When it is hot summer in the central china the giant pandas only live in remote, mountainous regions and sometimes up in the forest where it is wet and cool.

I really enjoyed this activity because I learned some more facts about giant pandas.

Pie charts

LI.To paln and carry ourt a statistical investtigation.

Today for maths I worked in a pair to carry out a statistical investigation to try and figure out what is the Favorited food of LS2. Together we did this by asking Teachers and Students from LS2 4 different questions for them to answer so that me and my partner can analyze the data that we collected. When we went through the data were able to choose only one of the questions that we wrote to create our pie chart we chose to base our pie chart off of what types of foods LS2 like to eat.

Summary of Te Tiriti O Waitangi

LI: To explain in fewer words what the text is about.

This week our reading groups were practising the summary skill by writing 20 keywords, then finding the 6 most picking six keywords out of the 20 written. After this, we wrote a summary paragraph using the six words we chose.  write a paragraph by using the 6 more important words.

We read an article about The Treaty of Waitangi.

On the 6th of February 1840, Te Tiriti O Waitangi was signed by the Maori chiefs. The treaty was in three different articles. Te Tiriti O Waitangi was made to get protection and have peace between the British and Aotearoa. People protested for equal rights.

When we picked out the 20 keywords, we used the article to find the words we thought were the most important to the topic.

I enjoyed this activity because I understood more about the The Treaty of Waitangi.
