Duffy Assembly

LI: To understand how reading can change one's life.

  • Today we had Marc from Duffy come and talk to us about the importance of reading and how reading can make a big impact on your life.  Although Marc had some challenges in his life he used reading as a tool to get through the hard times.  Marc believes that there is only CANs and not CAN’Ts.

  • ortAbout tha

  • I found these facts interesting and important.

Key Competencies

LI: To compare the Key Competencies we think we will use on camp and the Key Competencies we actually used.

  • Publish to the web your slides.

  • Before we went to camp our challenge was to think about when we might use the Key Competencies as we faced the challenges.  When we came back from camp we looked at this and compared how we thought we would use the Key Competencies and how we actually used them.

  • I found this activity interesring and help ful.

Camp Collage

LI: To create a collage of your camp highlight

This week LS2 have been celebrating our camp. I created this collage to show my time at camp and the activities I enjoyed. To make my collage effective I thought about the size of the images, the angle of the images and I tried hard not to leave any gaps between the photos.

I found this activity amazing because I loved how it makes more memories with friends and  teachers.

Brochure

LI: to create a collaborative brochure that tells others why Kokako Lodge is a great place to go on camp.

Over the last week, the students in LS2 have challenged themselves while participating in archery, high ropes, kayaking, raft building, camp cooking, pancake race and team building/orienteering. Our group worked together to create a brochure that gives information and shows readers why Kokako Lodge is an amazing area to go camping. We talked about the cabins, catering and the activities. The cabins are spacious and can hold up to 12 or 14 people per cabin. There is a large kitchen in the Kokako Lodge area and you can choose whether you would like to self-cater or receive food from caterers. I found this activity enjoyable because it required us to work as a team.

5 minutes of Camp

LI: To recount a 5 minute snapshot of one experience you had at camp

Under The Waterfall

I leaned into the kayak and I almost fell over in the water. I told myself 'you got this Leitu remember always take risks and be confident...' I put one foot in the kayak and it felt like it was going to flip but I went into the kayak and it started to wiggle!

I used the paddle to push myself off from the bank. I screamed 'Ahhhhh!' My heart was beating so fast. I told myself as I pushed my paddle right to left 'Leitu you got this woahhh!'

I accidentally put my feet off the kayak and I fell in the water as I yelled 'HELPPP!!' and I heard my heartbeat go faster. My legs and arms were shaking in the ice cold ẃater 'Help!!' I yelled. I could hear my group yelling out to me 'You got this Leitu!! ' which gave me more confidence in myself. So I got myself into the kayak and paddled away.

As I paddled to the rock then I get out and said to myself ‘Good job for being confident in yourself. I was so proud of myself for facing risks'.

Last week we went to camp at Kokako Lodge. My 5 minute snapshot shows my personal voice and I have tried hard to paint a picture with my words to describe what I was doing and how I felt.
